[Day 17] O Little Town Of Bethlehem

O Little Town Of Bethlehem

O little town of Bethlehem, How still we see thee lie…
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep, The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth, The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years, Are met in thee tonight

Why did God choose the little town of Bethlehem as the birthplace of His Only Son? A small unsuspecting town instead of a grand metropolis. So much to come from so little.

This seems to be just the way God works. He chooses the least likely candidate for a job. He chooses the humble to be bold, the weak to be strong, the quiet little town to host the grand entrance of a King.

1 Corinthians 1:27-28 says-

"...But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are..."

God does not choose what man would consider "well suited" or "well prepared". No, he chooses the ones willing to be divinely equipped. Have you witnessed this topsy turvy method? Has God used seemingly insignificant people and events in your life or the lives of others to do great things? Will you allow Him to equip YOU to be used to?
